Our Story
The Phillips Foundation is a private ancillary fund started in 2017 by Anthony and Liz Phillips – founders of Camp Australia – that actively supports charitable organisations and projects around the world to deliver holistic education opportunities to remote or disadvantaged communities.
In particular, The Foundation focuses on programs that help young people in developing countries build skills, confidence and resilience through participation in a combination of education, sport and social activities. In Australia, this extends to Aboriginal communities whose access to everyday educational and sporting activities may be challenged.
Meet the Phillips
Through The Foundation, Anthony and Liz – both of whom are lifelong educators – direct both funds and hands-on time to help communities, and in particular young people, build life-affirming skills and knowledge.
Anthony Phillips
With an extensive business and education background, Anthony Phillips is a mentor, supporter and advisor, who now directs his many talents towards philanthropic ventures including his family’s private ancillary fund, The Phillips Foundation.
A qualified teacher and coach for nearly 40 years, Anthony and his wife Liz brought innovative and professional educational services to thousands of school-aged children Australia-wide. Today, Anthony continues to deliver real, ‘on the ground’ help – through the power of education, sport and health – to developing communities globally.
In addition to his business stewardship, Anthony is a passionate and professional sports coach. When he and Liz are not working on The Foundation, Anthony is building and evolving his clients’ AFL football skills as the lead coach at Phillips Coaching.
Working with talented players and teams to develop both the physical and mental elements of their football game, Anthony uses proven coaching techniques to enable young people to successfully perform at the highest sporting levels – including the NAB League and AFL competitions.
Anthony is a committed and skilled coach who was won multiple awards for his coaching and community contributions.
Liz Phillips
As a career primary school teacher, Liz taught physical education for nine years and has 30 years of experience in the child care industry.
Her passions include swimming, a holistic approach to health and wellbeing and encouraging a strong sense of identity and belonging in order to create their footprint on the world.
Liz enjoys working with like-minded people who share her belief in the power of education, and bringing about positive change in the community through the encouragement and development of people’s skills, interests and talents.
Together with her husband Anthony, and their children, she is a driving force behind the philanthropic work of The Phillips Foundation. Liz feels privileged to meet people from different walks of life and has discovered that people are ‘just like me’ all over the world. Liz embraces the view that ‘everyone has different and interesting stories but fundamentally all want the best for themselves and their families… no matter where they live.’
Liz is committed to sharing her knowledge, passion and inspiration with a wide range of charitable projects who receive support via The Phillips Foundation.
