The Phillips Foundation were thrilled to host a fundraiser dinner in March 2020 that was a true community event, and highlighted the support that one community can give to the other.
The Rolum Ro Primary School was funded by The Phillips Foundation and built in honour of Ray Lord, who lived in our local area of Doncaster, and had a passion for helping children in Cambodia after visiting with his wife Jean and friends Chris and Ray. He had organised fundraisers in our community to help another local school in Cambodia, and after his death, we wanted to continue the work he started.
On the night, the fundraiser dinner raised enough money for solar panels, backpacks for each child with school supplies, mosquito nets plus other necessary equipment for the school children’s education. These included educational packs with pictures of iconic Australian landmarks and animals, and the messages were written by the people who attended the fundraiser.
These messages were wonderful words of wisdom of inspiration, and encouragement, to the children who attend the school and were made into books and posters to display around the classrooms.
We were thrilled to recently receive these photos of the successful delivery of the packs, and see the activities the team ran after the packs arrived. We’re thrilled to be an ongoing part of this fantastic school and the work that it does in its community.
